Little Floral Purse - Free Pattern

I've made a few of these purses to give away to the daughters of friends. As a mom with two boys, I jump at the chance to make things for girls. But of course, my preschooler loves carrying around the floral bags just as much as his father likes to carry my purse at the mall.

This is a perfect-sized purse for girls of all ages. It can fit an iPod Touch or Nintendo DS with room left to spare for lip-gloss or a Batman action figure. Crocheted in one piece with no seaming. Using machine washable cotton yarn for the purse with floral decoration and braided tassels makes this project as easy to take care of, as it is to make. And with the varied colour palette of the yarn, it’s easy to create a whole new look.

OPTIONAL TIES

Cut six – 24” strands of yarn. On each side of the purse, weave three strands over & under the dc posts of row 10 and center the yarn over the purse (use the photos at the beginning of the pattern for reference). There should be six strands at each end. At each end, make a braid using two strands for each braid section. Tie in a tight knot to secure the strands. Repeat on the other side making sure to make the two ties even in length. Enjoy your purse!

Switch up the colours to give it a whole different look!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words. It's always great to see others enjoy my work as much as I do.

I don't mind if people sell items created from my patterns as long as they credit me (Yarn Over Mo - Mo King Low) as the designer and link back to my blog for the pattern.

  4. I think this purse is absolutely adorable! I'm attempting to make it but in rows 1-9 the stitch count seems off to me. Maybe I'm not reading it correctly, but has anyone else had the same problem?

    1. I haven't heard of any issues with the stitch count. Sc in 2nd ch from hook is 1 st, then 23 sc, 3 sc in last ch, 23 sc around, lastly 2 sc in last st. So I get 1 + 23 + 3 + 23 + 2 = 52 sts.
